Funny idea

Not exactly an advertising idea, this is a wonderful product development concept.

Thank you Jimeoin for your idea, yet I'm sure you stole it from someone who stole it from someone else.

Think about it....so it is a regular occurrence for people to read their book in bed at night before they go off to Noddy Land, and reading your book can also help you fall asleep.

Is it just me or does your left arm get tired?

It is so much easier to read when you are laying on your left hand side rather than having to hold your book in your left arm when you are rolled over to your right.

Why don't we just invent books with writing on the left hand side pages only? That way we wont have to roll over to read the other side.

No more lost mail

Google Maps Envelopes. Love this idea.

Although it isn't an authentic Google product, the concept behind the new stationary is not only practical, it also makes you want to write letters again.

They can also help with undelivered mail as they show the tracking route of how the mail "should" get from A to B.

If Google were to use this creative new innovation, they would be able to venture into a market they had not previously delved into.

These envelops could be used by many companies, even when receiving a fine of some form. Even I would enjoy opening a parking fine if this was how it came in the mail.

Lets hope there are no hungry snails in the mail, otherwise the Postman Pat may be in a spot of trouble without his mini map.

Amplification at its best

"So how did you hear about us?" Is the first question you hear once you finally work out how to find the Hidden Pizza Restaurant.

This is up there with one of the best marketing ideas I have seen in a while.

How I found them...
Step 1: Saw a group on Facebook and became a "Fan"
Step 2: Noticed the website link and clicked on it
Step 3: Found the restaurant like you would any other business (Yellow Pages)
Step 4: Called to place my order
Step 5: Walked around in circles until I found the dark dirty alley way
Step 6: BINGO!! Amazing free pizza.

When you have nothing to loose, what is the harm in a little bit of adventure?

The guys behind this wondrous hideaway have created enough hype to continuously have people spreading the word of freebies yet haven't made the challenge too tricky that people don't bother.

It was surprisingly quieter than I had anticipated yet I saw people being turned away because they had not pre-ordered their pizzas over the phone - admittedly I did call at 5pm to ensure I didn't miss out.

For such a great concept, I hope the Hidden Pizza Restaurant is able to maintain it's appeal after it's "two week free pizza" introduction is complete. If it wasn't so tricky to find, I would be having free dinner, and homemade lemonade, for the next few weeks.

Can-o-curls

Virgin Mobile

Ray Ban

Diet Coke

Lady Gaga and Beyonce get together to make one of the best music video clips of all time.

9.30 minutes later, it isn't surprising that product placement has been used the entire way throughout to pay for the production of this mini film.

From the cans of Diet Coke used as hot hair rollers, to the Wonder bread used to make poisonous sandwiches, the use of brand name products are not subtle yet also not intrusive or a distraction to the song.

Ray Ban, Radio K, Polaroid and in particular Virgin Mobile are also prominent. I would love to know how much they paid to be in this film clip, and whether the screen writer wrote the script around the brands willing to contribute. For the two biggest names in the music industry at the moment, I give massive props to the brands involved in making this such an incredible film clip, or is it a commercial?

Indecent Exposure

Who wouldn't want to have their mug on a billboard?

On Thursday night, the boys from Blue Media (Ali, Adam and Josh) thought they would play a practical joke on their co-worker for his 30th birthday.

Working in the advertising industry, the boys had their creative juices flowing until they stumbled across the I Love You, Man idea of finding an unused billboard (this one was in Port Melbourne) and making a mockery of a mate.

On a major intersection, the exposure of this birthday gift has entertained many passers by.

Although the main objective of this was to take the piss, they have also managed to include the company logos, whether this will hinder further major accounts, who knows? But it is still bloody funny!

A little on the nose

Having read the Oliver Goldsmith classic 'Treasury of Aesop's Fables', the book of mini children's stories has always fascinated me to know more about Aesop - the native of Phrygia. With 68 engraved illustrations by Thomas Berwick, the classic bedtime stories tell a tale for children, yet it is their parents who are aware of the current day Aesop phenomena. The skin care range has become a cult for some avid users. I recall my own mother jumping up and down in St. Germain in Paris when we coincidently walked past an Aesop store, she would never use moisturiser by anyone else.

The seriousness of this campaign makes me giggle at the middle aged, lab coat wearing women. Their expressions show they are pleased with the results of Aesop's deodorant, yet a quote from Elizabeth Taylor "Success is a great deodorant. It takes away all your past smells" displays a sarcastic approach willing users not to take life too seriously.

Will I try it? Why not? Even at $35 a pop I'm sure that it will give me a natural pick-me-up in the morning as I spray the Lemongrass, Clove and Vetiver Root natural oils than my generic roll on variety.
